When running in dev you can easily step through your code and see what happens, but in production you are not allowed to do this. How great would it be that you could see what was happening in the production environment? But logging every step takes up a lot of the performance. Installing debuggable code in production just to see what’s going on is usually a no-go. By instrumenting your code you can get the information you need by ‘flipping a switch’. The former is particularly useful when data can be represented as a network in which the connectedness of data, ie. the explicit relationships between entities, play a role. Networks of bank accounts connected by financial transactions are one obvious example, which is why modern fraud prevention applications use graph analytics and pattern matching on this kind of data. Graph analysis can be complemented by machine learning to yield results that are even more accurate.<br />
In this session, we will show how a Spanish bank and an Eastern European provider of e-payments are using graph analysis for the purpose of fraud detection. We will look at how graph analysis and machine learning yield different results and how these techniques can be combined, provided the linked data can be turned into data structures that can be used in machine learning while at the same time maintaining the characteristics of the graph.</p>

Hans Viehmann ORACLE Corporation <p>How to Analyze Data Warehouse Data as a Graph</p> <p>According to Gartner, graph analysis is among the ‘Top 10 Data and Analytics Technology Trends’ in 2019. This technique has become popular in recent years, both because it offers a natural and intuitive way to model complex relationships, as well as because it provides powerful analytic capabilities. It enables the discovery of connections and behavioral patterns not only in social networks, IoT environments, big data platforms, but also in data warehouses, and in large amounts of complex transactional data. As it is generally possible to convert a relational schema into a graph schema, star schemas or snowflake schemas can also be translated into vertices and edges, primarily by materializing (some or all of) the primary key/foreign key relationships.<br />
In this presentation, we will explain how to use new tools and services on the Oracle Cloud to turn the Sales History Sample Schema in the Oracle Database into a graph schema. We will show step-by-step how to use the new data modeling tool, and subsequently perform a range of graph analyses. For this purpose, we will use both built-in algorithms from graph theory, as well as the Property Graph Query Language (PGQL). The former are designed to discover anomalies, influencers, and communities in data, while the latter is used to traverse and query the graph to discover patterns and impacts. For interactive analysis, we will present a notebook based on Apache Zeppelin, which includes a visualization component that graphically renders the results. Finally, we will discuss how graph technologies can interoperate with existing data warehouse environments in order to leverage the best of both worlds.</p>

<p>There are some common themes on the top of everyone’s minds when they consider implementing Fusion HCM. JAYSHREE CHATTERJEE ORACLE <p>DISASTER RECOVERY TO CLOUD</p> <p>In today&#039;s world where data fuels smarter businesses, approximately 32% of users experience data loss due to unreliable downtime. Thanks to Oracle’s Maximum Availability Architecture (Oracle MAA) - data protection and availability for Oracle databases, deployed on private, public or hybrid clouds, are now a safe haven.<br />
And exactly how do we achieve that? : Using Data Guard<br />
To understand this better, let&#039;s say you have a primary database, a single database which is your production database. Now, to avoid unavailability of this production database due to either planned or an unplanned outage, you deploy one or more synchronized replicas or copies of the same and call them the standby databases. This type of a configuration will enable you to switch the standby database to the production role and hence reduce your downtime corresponding to the outage. These standby databases can either be a Physical standby database, Logical standby database or a Snapshot Standby Database.<br />
That sure is a lot of options to choose from but how do you implement the switching process?<br />
This is where Data Guard comes into the picture. Data Guard has the potential to switchover (in case of planned events) or failover (in case of an unplanned event), the production to the standby database during planned maintenance or unplanned blackouts. Post restoration of the failed on-premises database, Data Guard automatically resyncs it with the new production database in the cloud and also transitions production back to the on-premises database.<br />
This session will be a deep dive on disaster recovery to cloud using data guard inclusive of its provisioning, configuration, apt choice of a standby database, certain technology hacks and a live uncut demo. Here we will also shed light on - how to choose the right process of disaster recovery depending on various scenarios. We will also answer some of the key questions like: how far can your databases be located from each other, how is a data guard utilisation different from an active data guard, what are the other options of DR to the cloud, how to set up a Data Guard in OCI on the go, etc.<br />

Recruiting has a job profile defined for advertising and attracting talent and to be used to identify the best fit candidates. HR administration want job titles that match letters of appointment and a defined grade or grade path. The performance management team want to know the competence and skills requirements of the jobs to compare to staff profiles. Learning and development want to know what skills are needed in the business to deliver appropriate training. Payroll wants job data from which to build consistent rules for benefits. All of these different needs are typically fulfilled by different teams leading to fragmentation and possibly even contradictions in the job data. </p>
<p>Fusion HCM allows a great deal of flexibility and unfortunately the result is that fragmentation can creep in over time even with the cleanest data at the start.</p>
<p>HCM systems are not meant to be workforce structure design tools and the value of integrated modules can be lost or diluted without coherent, comprehensive job design.
